Abstract

Abstract. Using the Gelfand transform, we characterize multipliers T on
commutative faithful Banach algebras via cTx = φT bx and show that for invertible
T, the deformed algebra AT = (A, x · Ty) preserves both the maximal
ideal space Δ(A) and multiplier algebra M(A). Specializing to L1(G), we prove
twisted convolutions f ∗ (v ∗ g) with bv ̸= 0 are the only such deformations.
